The Faculty of Medicine has approved updates to the Academic Administrative Space Policy and the Academic Research Space Policy.
These policies, last revised in 2020, govern the allocation and management of academic administrative and research space across B.C. Following a multi-phase engagement project, the updates reflect UBC’s formal adoption of remote work as part of the Hybrid Work Program in 2022 and address evolving institutional space needs.
Academic Administrative Space Policy
Updates to the Academic Administrative Space Policy include:
- Addition of a land acknowledgement.
- General policy language updates to provide clarity and reflect UBC’s adoption of Hybrid Work, including Space Allocation Guidelines and Typical Shared Workspace Models.
- Addition of a Shared Space Guidelines section in the Appendix.
Academic Research Space Policy
Updates to the Academic Research Space Policy include:
- Addition of a land acknowledgement.
- Language updates around the Prioritization and Metric for Research Funding.
- General policy language updates to provide clarity and reflect UBC’s adoption of Hybrid Work including Typical Shared Workspace Models.
