All concerns and complaints come to the Executive Associate Dean, Clinical Partnerships and Professionalism for triaging.
Should the Executive Associate Dean determine that the concern/complaint includes potential equity or human rights issues, the complainant will be referred to by the central UBC Equity and Inclusion Office. This office has the mandate to address concerns brought forward by learners, staff and faculty members under UBC’s Policy No. 3 “Discrimination and Harassment”. The Director of Complaint Management is a lawyer with extensive experience in human rights law and conflict resolution.
Should the Executive Associate Dean determine that the concern/complaint includes a potential violation of the Professional Standards for the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry, the Executive Associate Dean will provide guidance to the appropriate academic leader, to investigate and manage the complaint.
The Executive Associate Dean will develop an anonymized tracking mechanism for complaints/concerns across the provincial Faculty to identify needs for educational programs.
