The UBC Ergonomics program helps to ensure the safety and well-being of employees. It promotes optimal working postures and practices in order to reduce workplace musculoskeletal injuries.

WorkSafeBC stipulates that employers must “eliminate or, if that is not practicable, minimize the rise of musculoskeletal injury to workers.” To meet the WorkSafeBC regulations, UBC has incorporated ergonomics programming into the UBC Health and Safety Policy #7.
