Alumni Engagement Manager
Development & Alumni Engagement
UBC Medical Student & Alumni Centre (MSAC)
How long have you worked at the UBC Faculty of Medicine?
Tell us what you do at the Faculty in one or two sentences:
I work as part of the Faculty of Medicine’s Alumni Engagement team and we are tasked with creating and fostering opportunities for UBC Faculty of Medicine alumni to connect with each other, students, and the university. We do this a variety of ways including events, communications, and providing volunteer opportunities such as speaker engagements or participating in the Medical Alumni Association activities.
What’s your favourite thing about your work?
I love hearing from alumni about their time and experiences at UBC. I also enjoy having the opportunity, through my daily work, to chat with alumni and hear the stories about their connections to the school and to each other.
One thing we might be surprised to learn about you?
Most days, I bring my dog Steve Rogers to work with me. He’s a two-year-old Chihuahua and the unofficial MSAC mascot. He likes treats, ear scratches, and introducing himself to everyone who drops by the MSAC.
What is the song you sang out loud as a teenager?
Any and all songs by the Backstreet Boys.
What makes you laugh?
Really terrible puns... actually all puns, but the more terrible the better.
One thing on your desk you brought from home?
My Toronto Blue Jays bobble head that I got at a game in Toronto during their 40th anniversary celebrations. Go Jays Go!
Most healthy habit:
I try to move a lot in my day. My lower back is happiest when I move, so I try not to sit too long or stand too long throughout the day.
What is your favourite vacation spot and why?
My favourite vacation trip is a combination of Disneyland and Palm Springs. We spend three days running around, riding all the rides, eating all the food, and having fun, and then the rest of the vacation relaxing in the sun and recovering from the three days at Disneyland.
