Broadcast Email

​​​A broadcast email is a broadcast message sent to the email accounts of all members of one or more constituent groups.

Faculty of Medicine Broadcast Email

The purpose of broadcast emails is to communicate important, time-sensitive information having widespread impact to Faculty of Medicine faculty, staff and students. While broadcast emails can be an efficient means of quickly distributing information, it is critical that the Faculty is sensitive to the needs of the community and keeps broadcast emails to a minimum.

Examples include The Link e-newsletter and messages from Dr. Dermot Kelleher, Dean.

Update your email address

Broadcast messages for are sent to the primary email address listed in the HRMS database.  Faculty, staff and student employees can update their email address in the Faculty & Staff Self-Service Portal under the “myPersonal Info” menu on the left-hand side.

Request to Send Broadcast Messages:

The majority of mass broadcast communications are sent out by the Communications Group. If your unit has an item you believe would be suitable for mass broadcast, please contact the Communications Group. Please note, due to the large number of requests and recipients, your request will be subject to screening. Another more suitable method may be appropriate. To minimize email fatigue it is suggested that information items be included in the The Link e-newsletter when appropriate.

UBC Broadcast Email

UBC routinely sends out broadcast email messages to the UBC community. Examples include UBC-wide notification of the university's Annual General Meeting or student notification of changes in tuition policy.  These broadcast emails are approved by the Office of a Vice President (VP) or Associate Vice President (AVP).

These messages are sent from the messages@ubc.ca email account.

Broadcast messages for UBC faculty, staff and student employees are sent to the primary email address listed in the HRMS database. Faculty, staff and student employees can update their email address in the Faculty & Staff Self-Service Portal under the “myPersonal Info” menu on the left-hand side.

Broadcast messages for UBC students are currently sent to Netinfo/ Interchange accounts.
