How to access Faculty of Medicine applications and systems off-site by VPN.

Connecting Off-Site

If you would like to connect to your Faculty of Medicine applications and systems (e.g. shared drives) outside of the office, you can apply to the MedIT Service Desk for Virtual Private Network (VPN) access.

A VPN connection uses encryption to protect data and prevent others from accessing information that is transmitted over the network. A VPN connection grants you access to systems and information from anywhere, while using encryption to keep it safe.

To apply:

Complete the MedIT VPN Access Request Form and submit it to the MedIT Service Desk.

If you have a CWL, we can provide encrypted remote network access from any computer. VPN services are provided using Cisco AnyConnect VPN Client in association with UBC IT.
