Dr. Chris Morrow appointed Associate Dean, Continuing Professional Development

A message from Ravi Sidhu, Vice Dean, Education.

I am pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Chris Morrow as Associate Dean, Continuing Professional Development, effective to January 18, 2031.

Dr. Morrow is a clinical assistant professor in the Department of Emergency Medicine and a practicing emergency physician at Victoria General Hospital. He brings extensive experience as a clinician, educator and academic leader, most recently serving as Executive Medical Director, Continuing Professional Development (CPD). In this role, Dr. Morrow supported CPD’s successful accreditation by the Committee on Accreditation of Continuing Medical Education, helped establish a new CPD division for nurse practitioners, and contributed to innovative educational offerings, including the UBC CPD In Practice podcast.

Dr. Chris Morrow

Through his leadership roles, Dr. Morrow has strengthened collaborative relationships with academic, clinical and regulatory partners within B.C. and across Canada. He has played a key role in a wide range of initiatives, including Indigenous-specific anti-racism and cultural safety programming, team-based primary care projects, webinars and conferences. His clinical background in emergency and family medicine across rural and urban settings, together with leadership roles across distributed and regional programs, has provided him with a strong understanding of clinician learning needs and opportunities for healthcare system improvement.

As Associate Dean, CPD, Dr. Morrow will provide strategic leadership and operational oversight for CPD initiatives that support health care providers throughout B.C., ensuring offerings remain innovative, evidence-based and aligned with the Faculty’s priorities and national standards. Dr. Morrow will work closely with faculty and staff, leadership, health authorities and partners across the province to continue to develop and promote programs and activities that contribute to improved professional practice.

Dr. Morrow’s appointment follows the notable leadership of Dr. Brenna Lynn, who held the role from August, 2014. Under her tenure, UBC CPD expanded significantly in scope, innovation and reputation at provincial, national and international levels. Her leadership advanced responsive, high-quality CPD programming and reinforced UBC CPD’s role as an academic unit aligned with the Faculty’s strategic priorities. I would like to sincerely thank Dr. Lynn for her leadership and many outstanding contributions to the Faculty in this role.

Please join me in congratulating Dr. Morrow on his appointment.
