Dr. Peter Zandstra reappointed Director, School of Biomedical Engineering

Dr. Peter Zandstra

I am pleased to announce that Dr. Peter Zandstra has been reappointed Director, School of Biomedical Engineering, effective to June 30, 2028.

Dr. Zandstra is a professor in the School of Biomedical Engineering. His research focuses on the progression of regenerative medicine and immunotherapy, incorporating engineering design principles, computational modeling and stem cell biology towards understanding cell fate control mechanisms and developing new therapeutic strategies for diseases, such as cancer and autoimmune disorders. Dr. Zandstra has been recognized with many awards, including an appointment to the Order of Canada.

During his next term, Dr. Zandstra will continue to provide leadership to the School as it trains the country’s next generation of biomedical engineers and supports innovative faculty and researchers working with emerging technologies to create solutions and translate findings that will improve health care outcomes and delivery.

Dr. Zandstra’s reappointment follows the interim leadership of Dr. Peter Cripton. I would like to thank Dr. Cripton for his leadership and support over the past year.
