A message from Dermot Kelleher, Dean, Faculty of Medicine and Vice-President, Health and Roger Wong, Vice Dean, Education.
We are pleased to announce the reappointment of Dr. Sarah McCorquodale as Regional Associate Dean, Interior, for a five-year term effective to June 30, 2030.
Dr. McCorquodale is a clinical associate professor in the Department of Family Medicine, as well as a practicing family physician. She previously served as the Family Practice Site Director and provincially as the Clinical Experiences Integration Co-Lead and MEDD 422 course co-director.
During her first term as Regional Associate Dean, Interior, Dr. McCorquodale was instrumental in expanding the Southern Medical Program (SMP) to 40 MD students per year, including the development of a new Integrated Community Clerkship site in Vernon/Revelstoke. She also supported the expansion of residency programs in psychiatry, family medicine and emergency medicine across the region. Dr. McCorquodale played a key role in supporting the Centre for Chronic Disease Prevention and Management in successfully recruiting a full team of medical researchers. Her continued efforts have strengthened the integration of distributed medical education and research, particularly in rural, remote and Indigenous communities throughout the region.

In her next term, Dr. McCorquodale will continue working closely with faculty, staff, learners and leadership at UBC and Interior Health to foster a collaborative, inclusive academic environment. She will also continue providing academic and strategic leadership for the SMP, which delivers UBC’s MD Undergraduate Program in the Interior region through strong partnerships with UBC Okanagan and Interior Health. Dr. McCorquodale will continue to ensure the delivery of high-quality undergraduate and postgraduate medical education, providing support to health professions programs and advancing research and faculty development in alignment with the Faculty of Medicine’s strategic goals.
We are grateful for Dr. McCorquodale’s dedication to excellence in education, research and community engagement, and we look forward to her ongoing contributions to the Faculty of Medicine. Please join us in congratulating Dr. McCorquodale on her reappointment.
