The Office of Respectful Environments, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (REDI) invites you to its first virtual symposium: “Race Ideology: Historical Perspectives, Current Realities and Re-imagining the Future.”

When: Wednesday, May 25, 2022

Time: 8:30 am – 1:00 pm

What will I learn?

  • How racist ideology led to the categorization of people into “races”. 
  • How centuries of medical knowledge, health care, research and health professions education have continued to perpetuate systemic racism.
  • Who benefits from racism and discrimination and how racist systems and structures are sustained.
  • How to engage with anti-racism strategies and pedagogies aimed to dismantle racist structures and re-engage in a more equitable future.
