A message from Gage Averill, Provost and Vice-President, Academic, UBC Vancouver.
Further to my previous memo, dated December 16, 2024, confirming the membership of the President’s Advisory Committee (PAC) and describing the search process, I’d like to provide this update on activity since then.
The search consultants began their recruitment efforts this past winter and presented the PAC with a slate of candidates from which the committee recently chose individuals with whom they conducted confidential first-round interviews. The committee has narrowed down to a short list, and these candidates have accepted the committee’s invitation to return for the semi-finalist stage of the search. To ensure we retain the strongest pool of candidates possible, the Committee decided to invite these candidates for confidential in-person meetings with a limited number of representatives of the Faculty, UBC Health, the University’s senior administration, and external stakeholders.
The PAC will solicit feedback from participants in these meetings for consideration in the next stage of the search.
It is anticipated that the finalist candidate(s) will then be invited back to meet with a broader audience and present at a Faculty forum, to which all members of the Faculty and UBC Health will be invited, in accordance with UBC Policy AP5, Deans Appointment Policy.
If you have any question or concerns, please feel free to contact me at provost.vpa@ubc.ca. We look forward to your participation as the search progresses.
This message was sent to all faculty, staff and learners in the Faculty of Medicine & UBC Health.
