A message from Sharmila Anandasabapathy, Dean, Faculty of Medicine and Vice-President, Health, UBC.
I am delighted to announce the results of the 2025 Strategic Investment Fund (SIF) competition, following an outstanding response of bold and innovative proposals from across the Faculty of Medicine.
A total of $859K has been invested to fund six projects based on the recommendations from the SIF review panel. Three of these projects directly align with Indigenous-focused objectives, supporting the Faculty’s ongoing commitments to reconciliation, decolonization and Indigenization.
Thank you to everyone who submitted a proposal to the 2025 competition, and congratulations to our successful applicants. I look forward to seeing these initiatives take shape and drive meaningful change.
Since the establishment of the SIF competition in 2017, the Faculty has invested more than $14M in 129 projects led by faculty and staff across the province. Together, these projects have had a transformative and lasting impact, helping advance the goals of the Faculty’s plan, Building the Future: 2021–2026.
With our upcoming strategic planning process on the horizon, we will be reviewing how the current Strategic Investment Fund opportunity can evolve alongside our new strategic plan. We are energized by the possibilities ahead and remain committed to thoughtfully aligning resources in support of the new strategic plan and the community-driven initiatives that will help bring it to life.
This message was sent to all faculty and staff in the Faculty of Medicine.
