Strategic Investment Fund update

A message from Dermot Kelleher, Dean, Faculty of Medicine and Vice-President, Health.

As we start the second year our refreshed strategic plan Building the Future: 2021–2026, I’m pleased to announce that in year one we completed two rounds of the Strategic Investment Fund (SIF). In the fall 2021 and summer 2022 SIF rounds, we received a total of 66 proposals, and have invested $2.65M in funding to 23 proposals based on the advisory group’s recommendations.

Thank you to all the applicants who have submitted proposals over the past year and those who are working on funded projects. These exciting and innovative proposals are key to helping advance the commitments, goals and strategies outlined in the Faculty’s plan.

As we look ahead to the 2022/23 SIF funding year, we have decided to pause the fall SIF competition and review the program to ensure these important resources continue to accelerate progress toward accomplishing our strategic goals. We will spend the next few months re-evaluating the program and considering how we will continue to support faculty and staff in important grassroots efforts.

Please stay tuned to hear more from us about the future direction and SIF funding for spring 2023. To learn more about previously funded projects, visit the strategic plan website.
