December 6, 1989 marks the day an armed man walked into an engineering class at I’école Polytechnique de Montréal and killed 14 women and injured 10 more. This act of violent misogyny led Parliament to designate December 6 as The National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women.
Join the Faculty of Applied Science for the annual ‘14 Not Forgotten’ ceremony, led by the Engineering Undergraduate Society and the Faculty’s Equity, Diversity, Inclusion and Indigeneity office. UBC faculty, staff and students are invited to join the ceremony on December 1 to remember the 14 women who lost their lives, and stand against violence towards women.
