Open educational resource (OER) grants

Faculty and staff at UBC Vancouver are invited to submit proposals for grants that support the use of open educational resources (OER) in UBC credit courses through the Open Educational Resource Fund.

OER are teaching and learning materials that are openly licensed to permit free access as well as adaptation and sharing. Since 2019, UBC has provided over $991,000 in OER grant funding for 96 projects across 12 Faculties or units via the two OER Fund grant pathways.

OER Affordability Grants

Grants of up to $25,000 for UBC Vancouver faculty who wish to incorporate open educational resources as the required materials into their credit courses. Apply by 3pm on January 16, 2025.

OER Rapid Innovation Grants

Grants of up to $2,000, available to UBC Vancouver faculty, staff and students for innovative activities that increase open educational resource development, awareness and capacity building. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis until the year’s funds are exhausted.

The Centre for Teaching, Learning and Technology (CTLT) will also hold ongoing drop-in consultation sessions to provide feedback and assistance to potential OER Fund applicants.
