Update May 3: The Kaltura Cloud Migration is now complete. Access and manage your Kaltura videos through the new Teaching & Learning Media Portal at learning.media.ubc.ca or via Canvas.
Visit the LT Hub website for more information, FAQs and support.
UBC is moving video platform Kaltura into the cloud, to better support and improve the sustainability of the Kaltura platform.
If you use Kaltura to record and host video content, including through learning platform Canvas, learn about what the migration means for you.
What is changing?
UBC is moving Kaltura videos hosted at UBC into the Kaltura cloud. The migration will take place April 1–30, 2023.
Starting from May 1, 2023, access the Teaching & Learning Media Portal at the new domain: learning.media.ubc.ca.
How will this impact me?
- Some related data will not migrate, including video analytics and comments. To save this data, download before April 30.
- Plan to make any changes to your Kaltura videos before April 1, or after April 30. If you must change a Kaltura video in April, make a copy first (instructions on the LT Hub website).
- From May 1, access the Teaching & Learning Media Portal at new domain learning.media.ubc.ca
- From May 1, manually update links to Kaltura videos embedded anywhere outside of Canvas. Kaltura videos in Canvas courses will be updated automatically.
The migration will have minimal impact on students, who will be able to view, comment and take quizzes on videos throughout the migration period.
