Dr. Madeline Chung passed away on August 22, 2021.
An obstetrician, Dr. Chung will forever be remembered at UBC for her work to champion women’s health, and for her commitment and deep care of the Chinese Canadian community in British Columbia.
She accomplished much in her lifetime with such determination, grace and compassion. As a forerunner in her field, Dr. Chung helped create space for successive generations of medical trainees to enter the profession and expand its possibilities.
Dr. Chung and her husband, Dr. Wallace Chung, established the W.B. and M.H. Chung Research Day, which has grown to become an important hallmark of knowledge-sharing and community-building among the UBC Department of Surgery, fostering many interdisciplinary learning opportunities and collaborations.
