2023 Faculty Salary Increases
The process to administer the July 1, 2023 faculty salary increases for Bargaining Unit faculty members has begun. Please return your finalized Department/School summary of Merit and OAP award decisions to the Faculty HR Team via OneDrive by Thursday, May 18th, 2023.
2023 Faculty of Medicine Awards
Nominations are now open for the 2023 Faculty of Medicine Awards (see attached announcement). Please review the new award categories and nominations guidelines carefully. Please submit your nominations by 4:00 p.m. on Friday, June 9, 2023 to fom.recognition@ubc.ca.
2024 Canada Gairdner Momentum Awards
This year application deadline is Saturday, July 15th, 2023. For a full description of the award and nomination guidelines, please visit: https://www.gairdner.org/award/canada-gairdner-momentum-award Webinar sessions will be held by the Foundation to answer questions and help with the nomination process. Expiring Faculty PD Funds
On April 21, 2023, Central HR sent out a customized e-statement to faculty members who have PD Funds expiring on June 30th, 2023, please see attached for a copy of the communication. The communication was not sent to those who do not have funds expiring this year. If faculty members have questions about their expiring PD funds amount, please contact HR at faculty.pd@ubc.ca.

2023 Annual Honorary Reappointment Process
Thank you for getting your submissions in ahead of the deadline. The data has been sent along to Faculty Relations for upload to Workday. If you have follow-up questions, please reach out to fern.moran@ubc.ca.
Increase of CRA Prescribed Interest Rate
The CRA Prescribed Interest Rate has been increased from 4% to 5%, effective April 1st, 2023 (see attached announcement). This rate will apply to all UBC Prescribed Interest Rate Loans activated on/after April 1st, 2023.
HR Roundtable
A reminder that there will be a HR Roundtable on Conflict Engagement on Thursday, May 18th from 2:00 to 3:30pm. This is an opportunity to meet and speak with Robyn Campol, Learning Environment Advisor in the Faculty of Medicine Office of Respectful Environments, Equity, Diversity & Inclusion (REDI). Clinical Faculty Mentoring Program
The Clinical Faculty Mentoring program is now accepting submissions for the next cohort. Following a record number of mentorship pairings last fall, the highly popular Clinical Faculty Mentoring program is now accepting submissions for Junior clinical faculty and new educators to be paired with senior Clinical Faculty mentors from UBC’s Faculty of Medicine. - When creating a new Research Associate position please ensure you are selecting the profile that correspond to the specific appointment type (regular or honorary). For more information, please review: Research Associate Appointments, Job Profiles and Job Codes
- A reminder that Sessional Lecturers must be informed of openings for new Lecturer appointments within their unit. For more information, please review: Advertising Lecturer Appointments
- A reminder to terminate appointments in Workday that are not to be renewed. For more information, please review: Ending Appointments
Salary Increases for Research Associates
Research Associates have been granted General Wage Increases as approved by the Board of Governors, along with an increase in their minimum salary. Detailed information on the exact increase amounts and the process for their application in Workday, as well as the new minimum salaries were sent out on May 5, 2023 with the email version of this newsletter.
