Nominations for the 2023 Governor General’s Gold Medal Award are now open.
About the award
The Governor General’s Gold Medal Award is an opportunity to honour the best graduate and postdoctoral students. One gold medal is awarded to the graduate student who has achieved the most outstanding academic record in the graduating class for the doctoral degree. A second gold medal is awarded to the graduate student who has achieved the most outstanding academic record in the graduating class for the master’s degree with a thesis.
Medals are presented on behalf of the Governor General of Canada by participating educational institutions, along with a personalized certificate signed by the Governor General.
Eligibility & nominating
To be eligible, students must have submitted the final copy of their thesis to the Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies between January 1, 2022, and December 31, 2022.
Each Faculty of Medicine graduate program may nominate one applicant per category (PhD and MSc thesis). Submit application packages by Friday, February 24, 2023.
After adjudication, the Faculty of Medicine may nominate up to two students, one for the master’s medal and one for the doctoral medal.
