Water connects all living things. Ensuring resilient water systems for society and ecosystems is a global priority, challenged by both present and future impacts of a changing climate.
All those interested in research, including faculty, students and community members, are welcome to participate in this in-person symposium, held at UBC Vancouver & Okanagan campuses.

Healthy Workplace Initiatives Program funding
Do you have a idea for improving wellbeing in the workplace? The Healthy Workplace Initiatives Program is an annual fund available to UBC Vancouver & Okanagan departments and units to support grassroots activities that promote wellbeing in the workplace.
The program provides start-up funds and support for initiatives across nine different categories, from art initiatives to team health challenges to community gardens — including these previously funded projects.
Apply by 5 pm on Monday, April 7.
Health After 2020: Facilitating equitable access to palliative & end-of-life care for underserved populations
Register for Facilitating equitable access to palliative and end-of-life care for underserved populations, a series of knowledge exchange events seeking to explore the connection of palliative care approaches in the health system and community organizations. The series is hosted by the BC Palliative Care Research Collaborative, supported in part by UBC Health’s Health After 2020 program.
The three-part virtual series is designed to facilitate connection across the whole continuum of care, promote knowledge exchange among attendees, advance the uptake of existing research and support future research.
The event is open to researchers, research users from the health system and community and people with lived experience or knowledge of accessing palliative or end-of-life care for underserved populations.

- Wednesday, April 9: Current opportunities and connections that support improving equitable access to palliative and EOL care for underserved populations.

Dr. Sarah Bartlett extended as interim Associate Dean, Student Affairs
A message from Roger Wong, Vice Dean, Education.
I am pleased to announce the extension of Dr. Sarah Bartlett as interim Associate Dean, Student Affairs, effective to May 31, 2025.
Dr. Bartlett is a clinical instructor in the Department of Family Practice. Most recently, she served as Assistant Dean, Student Affairs for the Vancouver Fraser Medical Program, where she led the advancement of various wellbeing initiatives and worked collaboratively with students, faculty and staff to advance student supports. Dr. Bartlett has extensive teaching experience and comprehensive knowledge of curricular and assessment policies and procedures.

As interim Associate Dean, Student Affairs, Dr. Bartlett will continue to provide strategic leadership and planning to continue enhancing province-wide student support services offered through the Office of the Student Affairs in the MD Undergraduate Program, including counselling, wellbeing programs, career advising and planning, financial advising, and equity, diversity and inclusion initiatives.

Dr. Clarissa Wallace extended as interim Associate Dean, Fraser
A message from Roger Wong, Vice Dean, Education.
I am pleased to announce the extension of Dr. Clarissa Wallace as interim Associate Dean, Fraser, effective to May 31, 2025.
Dr. Wallace is a clinical associate professor in the Department of Medicine, and a community endocrinologist based at Royal Columbian Hospital in New Westminster. She is also a project lead with the Office of Faculty Development and a course director in year one of the MD Undergraduate Program. Dr. Wallace previously served as Assistant Dean, Vancouver Fraser, where she provided operational leadership for MD undergraduate education in the Vancouver Fraser Medical Program, ensuring the delivery of a high-quality educational experience across all four years of the curriculum.

As interim Associate Dean, Fraser, Dr. Wallace will continue to ensure a high-quality educational and inclusive experience for all learners and trainees in the Fraser region, working with associate deans in medical and health education programs.
