Entrada is Moving to the Elentra Cloud – Here’s What You Need to Know
The Faculty of Medicine is preparing for an essential update to our learning management system (LMS). We’re migrating from our in-house LMS, Entrada, to the cloud-based version, Elentra.
The official launch date is May 11, 2026, following the shutdown of Entrada on May 8, 2026.
This page provides an overview of the project, timelines and FAQs.
What is Entrada and Elentra?
Entrada is the current in-house learning management system (LMS) used by the MD Undergraduate and Postgraduate Medical Programs (UGME and PGME), as well as the Occupational Science & Occupational Therapy and Audiology & Speech Sciences programs at the UBC Faculty of Medicine. It supports a range of functions including course content delivery, assessments, scheduling, and curriculum management.
Elentra is the cloud-hosted evolution of Entrada. It retains the same core capabilities while presenting the opportunity for future enhancements.
Why are we migrating?
Our current Entrada platform is reaching end-of-life and will no longer be supported. Migrating to Elentra Cloud ensures continuity of service, with minimal disruptions to your day-to-day experience.
What’s Changing (and What’s Not)
What’s Changing
- The platform will be hosted and managed in the Elentra cloud
What’s Not Changing
- Core functionality and user experience will remain largely the same
- No immediate changes to workflows
Current Phase: Impact Assessment
We’re currently assessing how this transition may affect our community. Key advisors from each program including faculty, staff, and students are testing the system to help:
- Identify needs and anticipate challenges
- Inform planning and determine required support and training
- Explore potential impacts across programs and departments
Note: No changes are being made at this time. We anticipate minimal disruption, but this will be confirmed through the impact assessment.
Timeline
The transition to Elentra Cloud will take place over a single weekend for all programs, as detailed below:
Key Dates
- Entrada Shutdown: Friday, May 8, 2026 at 4:00 PM PST
- Blackout Period: May 8–11, 2026
(Entrada will be completely unavailable during this time.) - Elentra Cloud Launch: Monday, May 11, 2026 at 9:00 AM PST
⚠️ Important Reminder
If you require access to any materials during the blackout period, please ensure you download before 4:00 PM PST on May 8, 2026, as the LMS will not be accessible until the new platform launches.
We appreciate your cooperation and look forward to welcoming you to Elentra Cloud at 9am PST on May 11, 2026!
FAQs
As we prepare to launch Elentra Cloud on May 11, 2026, we want to ensure you feel confident and supported throughout the transition. Below are answers to common questions:
Will I still be able to access everything I currently have in Elentra after the migration?
Yes. All existing data including assessment records, learning event details, and gradebook information will be securely migrated. No data will be lost during the transition.
Will links sent to me to complete assessments/evaluations still work?
Yes. Links sent via Elentra emails will continue to work. For example, if you receive an assessment task May 5th and complete it on May 12th , the link will redirect you to the new Elentra Cloud site.
How do I report issues with Elentra after the migration?
Users can continue to report issues with Elentra or request training the same way they do now by submitting a ticket: Entrada Support Form. Our Support Services team will work with you to resolve your issue or escalate it to Elentra if required.
Are there new features in Elentra that I need to know about?
There are no new features that anyone is required to use immediately. We anticipate minimal disruption, but this will be confirmed through the impact assessment.
