The Office of Research is responsible for advancing the Faculty’s research priorities, providing support for researchers, and facilitating student research opportunities.
Grants & Funding
- Facilitate the approvals process for research funding applications
- Administer internal research awards and funding opportunities
- Communicate research funding opportunities though The Research Roundup
- Coordinate Dean’s Letters of Support required for research grant applications
Strategic Programs & Proposal Development
- Oversee Canada Research Chairs including internal adjudications and submissions
- Offer proposal development for research funding applications through SPARC
- Assist in soliciting and coordinating nominations for honours, awards, and prizes
- Liaise with the Institutional Programs Office to manage federal and provincial funding programs
Reviews & Searches
- Support the academic reviews and evaluations of research centres and institutes
- Prepare research funding data and analysis for planning and reporting
- Lead searches for research centre and institute directors, strategic research chairs, and professorships
Research Support
- Provide a Research 101 Handbook and information sessions for new researchers
- Facilitate and coordinate international research partnerships
- Engage in advocacy and strategic initiatives to support the health research community at the local, provincial, national, and international level
Student Research
- Administer and oversee graduate & postdoctoral education and research
- Coordinate curriculum changes and supervisory approvals with the Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies
- Facilitate undergraduate student research opportunities (MD and non-MD), including the Summer Student Research Program and the Multidisciplinary Research Program in Medicine (MRPM)
