As a manager, these are the steps you will need to follow to advertise job opportunities.

UBC Careers Website

Postings Date

Posting dates will be automatically adjusted if the job opening approval is received after the original posting date.

Example:
Your recruiter submitted a posting to the job opening approver to approve on June 1st, with the posting originally scheduled to appear on the website on June 2nd. However, the approver did not approve until June 4th. The eRecruit system will automatically adjust the posting dates based on the new posting date of June 5th (the day after it was approved) for the same posting period.

Postings

  • Postings appear on the UBC Careers website at midnight on the opening date and are removed at midnight on the closing date.
  • Positions must be posted for a minimum of 5 business days to a maximum of 30 calendar days.
  • Postings that did not identify a successful candidate may be re-posted within 90 calendar days.
  • If it has been longer than 90 calendar days, a new job posting ID must be created.
  • It is not necessary to re-post using the same job posting ID. Some managers prefer to keep the candidate pools separate. If you chose to re-post with a new job posting ID, you must first contact your HR Associate to have them “close” the original job posting. This process will “decline” the candidates in the system and allow you to move on to a new posting.

CUPE 2950

  • Positions of 3 months of longer must be posted. (3 months = January 1-March 31st not January 1-April 1st which is 3 months plus a day).
  • Initial postings are generally recommended to be for the minimum 5 day period as there are often recall/placement candidates and internal candidates to consider first. Therefore posting for extended periods or on external websites is generally not recommended for initial postings.
  • If the initial posting did not identify a successful candidate, you may elect to advertise externally. The position must be re-posted on the UBC website. Direct applicants from the external advertising to apply via the UBC website. the same prioritization of applicants for the re-post is required, as there will likely be additional internal candidates to consider from the second posting.

M&P

  • Positions of 12 months or longer must be posted (12 months = January 1st-December 31st not January 1st-January 1st which is a year plus a day).
  • When a position has a highly specialized or unique skills set, you may decide to advertise an M&P position externally. This is permitted provided the posting appears first on the UBC careers website. Direct external candidates to apply via the UBC Careers website.

TRA’s

  • Positions of 12 months or longer must be posted (12 months = January 1st-December 31st not January 1st-January 1st which is a year plus a day).
