Improving Financial Management: the New Finance Model
Effective April 16, 2018, the Finance Team transitioned to a new organizational model. The new structure is the first step in improving financial management across the Faculty of Medicine.
A goal of the change is to provide specialized resources dedicated to supporting the financial planning and analysis of units and the Faculty as a whole. At the same time, it will provide the foundation necessary to reap the benefits of the many University initiatives aimed at improving financial processing including the Procurement Modernization program and HR Finance Renewal.
The structure consists of three portfolios:
- The Academic Finance team provides specialized finance services to Faculty of Medicine Departments, Schools, Centres, and Institutes.
- The Education and Administrative Finance team provides specialized finance services for Education, the Office of the Dean, and other central faculty services, as well as supporting research and new program development.
- The Operations Finance team processes Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable.
Additionally, there are small teams devoted to financial planning and analysis for the Faculty and continuous improvement for Faculty finance and operations.
